Isshinryu Karate was founded in the 1950s in Okinawa by Tatsuo Shimabuku, who sought to create a martial art blending the best techniques of Shorin-Ryu and Goju-Ryu with Okinawan weaponry. This style, known for its distinctive vertical fist punch and natural stances, emphasises simplicity and power. Tatsuo’s legacy lives on through his students and the generations that have followed.
